AI In the Arts - Thursday November 16, 2023

The much-anticipated event AI in the Arts will be held on Thursday, November 16th at 7:30pm in Westerbeck Hall on the PCC campus. A panel of distinguished industry leaders will be discussing what generative artificial intelligence is and what it isn't, how it's impacting the Arts and other industries, and how to use AI to successfully launch a career. Panel members include:

  • Eric Baum - Senior Vice President of Business and Legal Affairs at Sony Pictures motion picture studios
  • Adam Fowler - Founding partner of CVL Economics, leaders in workforce development in the arts
  • John L. Geiger - Intellectual Property & Entertainment attorney, screenwriter, and PCC Cinema program faculty
  • Peter Gend - Professional animator and game designer, and faculty lead for PCC's Game Design program
  • Christopher O'Leary - Renowned artist and faculty lead for PCC's Photography program

This promises to be a great event with important information about starting a career and how AI is affecting industry. A reception will immediately follow, where you can meet and talk with the panel members.

John L. Geiger is a Bruin screenwriter (MFA 2003) and an intellectual property attorney in Los Angeles with thirty-plus years of litigation and transactional experience representing a broad variety of entertainment professionals, including screenwriters, producers, directors, and actors.

Howard Suber taught generations of screenwriters, directors, producers and scholars during his more than 50 years on the faculty of UCLA’s Department of Film, Television and Digital Media. He was a founder of three of the school’s programs, including the current Producers Program. He has been a frequent expert witness in copyright-related cases, several of which are discussed in Creativity and Copyright. Recipient of the highest honor bestowed by the Regents of the University of California upon a retired faculty member, Suber has also been awarded UCLA’s Distinguished Teaching Award and two Life Achievement awards by film festivals.
